A Crash Course in Zine Fest Etiquette

First off: art above designed by @whatwouldjesusglue!

So, you’re thinking of coming to Evergreen Zine Fest! Good choice.

Zine Fest etiquette is pretty similar to any art market you’ve been to. All our artists will have their tables set up to show you their wares and you can peruse at your leisure. While you do, please keep the following items in mind:

  • We’re artists and we WANT to tell you about our work! If something catches your eye, swing by a table and strike up a conversation. However, if you prefer not to chat, you don’t have to!
  • Please do not eat in the zine fest room. Bayside has a dining room where you are welcome to sit and enjoy their incredible vegan comfort food (the pickles are the best in town according to a zine I’ve been working on – If you think you know a place that’s better you HAVE to tell me, for science!).
  • Do not take photos of anyone or their work without asking permission first!
  • The fest will have an official photographer – if YOU don’t want to be photographed, please just ask them not to photograph you (or to delete any photos). If you do take photos at the fest, we would love to see them! Tag: @evergreenzineunion
  • Only vendors will be permitted to sell their work at Fest. If you are a local artist and are interested in trading your work, that’s very welcome! Just keep your trades fair (equal) and do not assume all our vendors will be open to trades.
  • The zine community draws a lot of marginalized voices and faces. You don’t have to like everyone, but you do need to be respectful. We have a no tolerance policy for any hateful, harassing, or threatening behavior. Keep it cool.

If you have anything to add, drop it in the comments!
