I get it, it’s not close to a lot of other spots. And Light Rail won’t get to Everett until who knows when. That sucks – but my refutation to any reasons why you *shouldn’t* make the effort to come out to Everett is, do it anyway. I rarely leave the house if I don’t have to (I have to, a lot) but when I do I often find cool things here in Everett. Like this snail. She was just chilling outside my house and that was pretty rad. But, you probably have snails around your house, too. (Tell ’em I say hi, they’ll know that it means.)
So here’s a list of other things you can do when you come up (or down – I see you Marysville and Bellingham!) that are literally within walking distance! Public transit in Everett is not awful either – so all you folks within a reasonable distance of a light rail station can train it up to Lynnwood and bus it over to Everett. It’s like 20 minutes.
There’s a zine fest upstairs and an ANARCHIST BOOK FAIR at our friend’s Charm & Strange in the basement (street level)! Whaaat! You don’t even have to leave the building for that!
Across the street is Salish Sea Ceramic Studio where you can just walk in and paint your own pottery, or shop completed work! They also have a beautiful shop dog, so make the effort!
Choux Choux Bakery is around the corner for baked treats and coffee. (Bayside also has vegan baked goods and coffee, also vegan.)
Wanna trade trinkets? Or maybe even stickers you find at Zine Fest? Check out the Downtown Everett Trinket Exchange (https://www.instagram.com/dte.trinketexchange/) which is inside Lucky Dime who is throwing the third annual 425 Day starting at 5:30 PM (all ages until 11).
Inspired to make a zine or draw your own indie comix and need art supplies? Swing by JAG Art Supply.
Grab some records, beer, and sick vibes over at Apollo Exos.
Bringing your kiddos? Check out Imagine Children’s Museum.
Get some culture at Schack Art Center!
You can even check out the Funko HQ and do whatever happens there. Point is, there’s SO MUCH to do, don’t sleep on this.
Fun addition, that is not within walking distance, it Rucker Tomb which inspired some of the art for the fest. I’m a sucker for an unnecessary pyramid and a silly conspiracy, so yeah, if you wanna get weird, you can drive by Evergreen Cemetery and appreciate the…choice of eternal resting place. (Respectfully! Don’t climb on it!)
If you have recommendations of other things to do in Everett on 4/25 – contact Sully – no one intentionally left off the list, I’m just tired. I’ve been researching crab husbandry. I choose not to elaborate more on that and will instead go to sleep.
